Vanessa Poirier successfully completes M.Sc. thesis!

After two busy years and > 6 months of field work, Vanessa successfully completed her M.Sc. thesis at McGill University (co-supervised by Dr. Kyle Elliott) on the stopover ecology and habitat use of two moult migrants in peri-urban greenspaces in the summer of 2023. Vanessa started her Ph.D. in urban forest ecology at UQAM in September 2023, and recently published her first chapter documenting the moult migration of Tennessee Warblers in the Canadian Journal of Zoology. Her second chapter is currently being revised for minor revisions in the Journal of Nature Conservation. Its been quite the year for Vanessa - huge congrats!! She will be missed in the Birds&Trees group and we wish her all the success with her new challenges (and hope to have her out birding with us during migration once in a while).
