Busy summer of nest searching in Montreal parks for Birds & Trees students
Research on nest success of passerine birds in urban greenspaces
Summer Fieldwork 2023 completed
Chloe had a fantastic field summer searching for and monitoring nests of open-cup nesters in a few of Montreal’s urban forests. She is so grateful for the amazing help of her team of undergraduate assistants: Mackenzie Guest, Lauren Bianco, Sofia Motato-Simmonds (along with many others that came out to assist through the summer, including Aliaksei Fiodarau from Concordia’s Science College program, who helped with human behaviour monitoring, and Ana Morales & Dr. Barbara Frei, who helped with some walking point counts for overall bird biodiversity metrics of each site).
Through the field season, Chloe and her hard-working team found a total of 99 nests of four species!
She is excited to tell the story of her first summer of nest work once she has completed analyses, and is looking forward to presenting her work to partners and collaborators.
